What is a Vision Board??
A vision board is a visual representation of what you want to achieve by pasting words and/or pictures on a poster board. In and of itself, it is pretty straightforward and simple. But in terms of its effect, it is very powerful. The objective behind the vision board is that you’re documenting, in a visual manner, the pictures and/or words that are associated with what you want to embody and have in life. It is forward-looking, and in a snap shot, it shows your aspirations. A vision board leverages the law of attraction as you bring together all the relevant images and words that will drive and motivate you to take the steps necessary to realize your dreams.

Preparation for 2011
As you reflect on 2010 and think up new resolutions for 2011, a vision board is a fun way to plan ahead. It certainly brings the child out of you because you will find yourself flipping through magazines, cutting, and gluing! Needless to say, it is a lot of fun and therapeutic in and of itself. You may start the process knowing exactly what you want on your vision board, or you may allow it to be experiential. There is no right or wrong way, and it is totally up to you!
So with all that, of course we had to create one ourselves! It was fun, therapeutic, exciting, and certainly motivating! Take a look at it below. Clearly there is much to look forward to in the coming year!
Go ahead and create your vision board! Visualize the dreams that you want to make a reality and be open to what you will discover about yourself during the process of creating your vision board. Let us know how it goes!

This is a great blog post and a perfect exercise to be doing at this time of year. We all need physical manifestations of our big picture goals and developing a vision board is the best way to accomplish this.
Here’s one more tip. Post your vision board on the wall so that you can be reminded why you do your work.
Here’s to 2011.

Very good point, Ms. Emerson. Consistently maintaining a big picture perspective is not easy! We really have to force ourselves to see beyond what may be our tunnel vision and be honest, constructive and open. Having something tangible to reference helps with this; and a vision board is effective for the same reason that writing a list is suggested over keeping one in mind. It brings the aspiration into existence! It gives it life! And this in turn propels the need to take action!
I’ve wasted no time in heeding your advice! The vision board has been propped up in front of me at my desk! Ready to take on 2011 indeed!

I know this is an older post, but I believe that you should have a picture of yourself ( or your logo/brand image) in the center of your vision board so that you acknowledge that it is your desire to attract all of those things you visualize for your year to you quickly and effortlessly. I love how you have done the same here. I actually create three boards – a vision board for all the things I want in my life, a brand board for the way I want to build my business and brand and a why board to keep me focused on the big reasons why, that have little to do with me so that I achieve what I see for my life and business.
