I recently shared this on TheAfter5Edge’s Twitter handle and facebook page and received a lot of positive feedback.  For this reason, I wanted to take the opportunity to elaborate on what was a short but important reminder.  We’re often so caught up being “busy” that we forget what should take priority in our lives.  So I wanted to take a moment to stop and reflect.

Life is fragile.  We have the option of going through life quietly or living life boldly.  Either way, our time is limited.  It is ours now to treasure and we should make the most of it while we can.

Spend it wisely.  Despite our limited time, we have the option to live life with meaning, with purpose and by design.  Think of what you want to have in your life and create a plan accordingly.  Create a life that makes you feel whole and complete.  Do the things you want to do.

Do good deeds.  The world becomes a better place with each of our acts.  Reach out to an elderly neighbor.  Let someone go ahead of you in a line.  Give up your seat on the bus.  Donate your used clothing.  Give your old books to a local library or organization.  Buy lunch for a homeless person.  Your options for doing good deeds are endless.

Help and spend time with people.  Our best experiences in this world are created with the people in our lives.  Help others when you can and don’t underestimate your ability to provide value.  Take time to celebrate the achievements and special moments of others.

Enjoy each moment.  Take walks.  Eat outdoor in the summer time.  Take time to relax and meditate.  The destination is fulfilling but make sure to enjoy the journey.  Choose your battles.  Keep things in perspective and always remember that most things are not that big of a deal in the grand scheme of things.

What takeaways do you have about life and how to make the most of it?  What rules do you live by to maximize your experiences?
