Quick Takeaway: Build A Dream First Then Reap the Rewards After

Every once in a while, I come across a quote that, in a few words, relays an important and powerful message.  Here is one:

So what’s the takeaway?

Start from scratch and create something that you can call your own and that you’re proud of.  It doesn’t have to be something big; many big things often start very small.  Building it yourself will require hard work, effort, sacrifices and pushing through on tough days.  Along the way, you’ll learn more about yourself as you’re faced with challenges and gain experience.  You’ll learn what persistence means and what it means to truly put in work.  This will build your character and broaden your perspective as you act on your passion.  You’ll develop a story along the way.  The victory and success at the end of the road can also build you professionally and personally.  TheAfter5Edge started as an idea and it has since spread its wings.

Have you found something that you’re passionate about developing? Have you given your entrepreneurial spirit the freedom to dream and act? When are you taking your first step?

Quick Takeaway: Take the Wheel and Steer Toward Your Goal

From time to time, your windshield gets foggy.  Instead of snow, rain or sleet, your view gets blocked by lack of focus, second-guessing yourselves or negativity from others.  It is normal for this to happen and it is fine to pull over on the shoulder to regain your composure.

The biggest challenge, however, is in snapping out of it and getting back on the road.  Take yourself out of the current situation and look at the big picture.  Remind yourself why you started the journey in the first place.  Envision what it will be like when you get there and why you want that feeling.  Imagine it being real.  Use that motivation as the push you need to keep going.

So what’s the takeaway?

Don’t let a few raindrops on the windshield blur your vision. You’re in the driver’s seat. Steer toward your goal! Keep dreaming big and don’t let anything get in your way along the road to success!

“There is a curb called Failure
A loop called Confusion
Speed bumps called Friends
Red lights called Enemies
Caution lights called Family
You will have flats called Jobs
But, if you have a spare called Determination
An engine called Perseverance
Insurance called Faith
You will make it to a place called Success!”

Quick Takeaway: Use Your Knowledge, Skills & Interests to Enhance Your Life Experiences

TheAfter5Edge - Quick Takeaway: Use Your Knowledge, Skills & Interests to Enhance Your Life ExperiencesThere’s at least one thing that you do in an amazing way.  Maybe it is synthesizing complex topics into easy to understand terms and concepts.  Or maybe you can draw a life-like portrait that is synonymous to the photograph you modeled it after.  Maybe you’re able to resolve conflicts and get parties to see each other’s perspective and quickly reach mutually beneficial resolutions.

It may take a while, but if you’re attentive, you’ll find your one thing.  What do you love doing on your own time?  What do people come to you for?  What gets you excited?  Once you find it, think of creative ways that you can leverage it.  Let it work for you and let it work for others.  It may change their life and provide you with a positive and fulfilling experience.

So what’s the takeaway?

Use your knowledge, skills and interests to enhance your life experiences.  Use them to make a difference in someone else’s life. Give back. Get involved. Do more. Share more. Help others.

“If you have knowledge, let others light their candles at it.”  – Margaret Fuller
